1545 THE LOST AMAZON CIVILIZATION - BOOK DESIGN

This research-driven case study revisits Francisco de Orellana’s expedition through the Amazon River in 1545, documented for the first time in Gaspar de Carvajal’s chronicle. During this journey, the Spaniards described highly organized civilizations that were later erased from official history and dismissed as false by the Spanish Crown. This book uses AI as a method to reimagine the chronicle, speculating on how it might have looked if captured by the first photographs, with effects that mimic early documentary imagery. These images aim to honor the legacy of these lost civilizations and restore a fragment of the Amazon’s forgotten history to the world’s collective memory.
